![]() ![]() When going wireless, I'd say that the Pro wireless and the Arctis 7 as fairly even in sound quality, with the Pro getting the nod from a better frequency range that you can feel and overall better clarity. There is also a HISS that never goes away, no matter what volume level or gain setting (high/low) it is set too. The Pro wireless headset had a noticeable degradation in quality, which is to be expected since it's outputting a wireless signal at 16-bits and 44.1kHz vs the 24-bit 96kHz I was just spoiled with. The platforms used were iTunes (Mastered for iTunes tracks) and Tidal (HiFi/Master sound quality). The music I played was a mix of Rock, Hip-Hop, RnB. When wired, all 3 headsets had NO HISSING when nothing was playing and volume was at 100%. Sound improved on the Arctis 7, but the real stars were the Pro headsets. ![]() I also tried all 3 headsets with the GameDAC and it improved the sound quality a bit when using Hi-Res mode on my PC. This was tested on my PC (24 bit, 96kHz) and my iPhone X. Overall, a huge improvement over the Arctis 7. Mids were warm, highs sounded bright without being annoying. The sound quality is MUCH better than the Arctis 7 and closer to the HD598, but had a bit more bass (due to closed back vs open back cans). Both the wireless and wired version sounded exactly the same when using a wired connection. Sound Quality: My ears are tuned to the sound of the HD598 and that is the kind of sound signature I like. I guess I'd consider myself a slight audiophile. I enjoy having "reference" or "close to reference" sound, listening to music and sounds as the artist intended. I also added sound dampening to the doors and did time correction so all sounds hit my ears at the same time. I also outfitted my car with JL Audio Components, Coaxials, 10-inch Sub, and tuned them to sound EXTREMELY CLOSE to my HD598. I've experienced HD800s with an amp and used to own studio monitors for sound production (M-Audio Bx8a). Early last year, I tried out the Arctis 3/5/7 and ended up keeping the 7 for its use with my PS4, PC, and mobility. I've been listening to music and gaming with a Sennheiser HD598 for the past 4 years. I had the chance to try out the Arctis Pro GameDAC and Wireless version in comparison to my current headset, the Arctis 7.īefore I start, a short history of my sound tastes. ![]()
